Palm Coast, Fla. – Lori Fund concert and golf tournament fundraiser came at the perfect time, the weekend before Memorial Day!
The concert, featuring Pryor Baird and Kaleb Lee from THE VOICE performed for roughly 400 people at the Hammock Beach Ocean Golf Course, outside at the driving range overlooking the ocean! They were AWESOME and the night was filled with energy.
The sold-out golf tournament was played the next day on the world class Ocean Course at Hammock Beach. Over 180 players participated in a sun filled beautiful day. “Once again we donated $100k to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation along with $10K to Brave Aid of Flagler and Volusia counties said founder of The Lori Fund Frank Petruno”. “Lives change when your parent is killed in the line of duty, and the funds raised help to ensure these children will receive the counseling they need, get a good education, and help fulfill the dream a parent had for their children” Frank added.
Frankie Petruno started The Lori Fund, a 501c3, after his wife, Lori Sullivan, passed away on April 11, 2019. To honor Lori’s legacy of giving, kindness, and love, Frankie is turning his personal tragedy and devastating loss into something powerful by doing what Lori always did, give to others. “Lori was selfless, a great daughter, sibling, friend, mother, and grandmother. Together we shared an unbelievable bond of love and I refuse to let her passing go unnoticed,” said Frankie. “Lori was a military mom, our son Robert currently serves in the special forces in the U.S. Army – what a great way to support these families and carry on her legacy of giving back to those in need, Lori would be so proud of the charity we selected,” added Frankie.
The evening of the event, US Retired General Raymond A. (“Tony”) Thomas III formerly served as the 11th Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) headquartered at MacDill Air Force
Base, Florida, was the guest speaker. Gold Star family member Cameron Kocan is the child of LTC Keith Kocan, who worked with the US Special Operations Command Center. Lieutenant Colonel Kocan passed away on April 25, 2006. Cameron grew up in Tampa , Florida, will spoke on behalf of Special Operations Warrior Foundation. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Florida in 2019 and is about to enter his third year of dental school. will speak on behalf of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
